APO packs up instruments and heads to the Shore
The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) musicians are heading to Bruce Mason Centre on Friday 23 February, and they’re bringing some of classical music’s heavyweights with them: Wagner, Schumann and Mendelssohn.
Bellincampi & Mendelssohn is the first in a two-concert series at the Bruce Mason Centre in 2018, APO on the Shore. APO Music Director Giordano Bellincampi leads the orchestra for this concert, and the APO also welcomes German violinist Veronika Eberle to perform Schumann’s Violin Concerto.
Veronika Eberle came to international attention when she was just 16 years old, performing with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle. Since then she has performed with the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Symphony, the Royal Concertgebouw, and the New York Philharmonic, among others.
APO Chief Executive Barbara Glaser says the orchestra is delighted to bring exceptional artists like Ms Eberle to the North Shore. “This series is part of our commitment to ensuring all Aucklanders, whichever side of the bridge they reside on, can access and enjoy orchestral music. With internationally-acclaimed violinist Veronika Eberle joining us to play the Schumann Violin Concerto, a piece she has made her own, our North Shore audience is in for a real treat,” Ms Glaser adds.
Tickets for APO on the Shore: Bellincampi & Mendelssohn are available from Ticketmaster. More information about the concert programme and soloists can be found at apo.co.nz/whats-on.
