Water contact ban lifted at Tahunanui Beach
6 February 2018
Following the results of water testing, the water contact ban in place since the storm event on Thursday 1 February has now been lifted at Tahunanui main beach, Tahunanui back beach, and along by Rocks Road.
The water contact ban is still in place towards Akersten Street (around the marina) as it waits for one further clear result.
Swimming and recreational water contact may be resumed in the clear areas.
Council reminds residents that due to the geography and proximity to urban areas shellfish should not be taken from within the enclosed waters of the Waimea Inlet and the Nelson Haven at any time as they may exceed maximum microbiological guideline levels.
