SeePort 2018: the best yet!
Over 72,000 people visit Ports of Auckland’s ‘open-port’ festival
Every year Ports of Auckland closes two of its city wharves and opens the port gates to the public for the SeePort festival. The festival is packed with fun, interesting activities, most of which are free. It’s a great way to entertain the kids over a long weekend and a fascinating look at a place most people don’t get a chance to visit.
This year has been the most successful ever, with over 72,000 people visiting over the weekend. Around 14,000 people came through the gates on Sunday evening alone, for the SeePort Symphony & Fireworks concert.
Ports of Auckland created the SeePort Festival as a fun way to give people a look behind the scenes of a working port. It has grown to include many maritime, supply chain and community partners such as the Royal New Zealand Navy and Air Force, KiwiRail, seafood company Sanford, Customs, Scouts and more.
