Tribute to Dr Hashem Slaimankhel
The Auckland Regional Migrant Services Charitable Trust (ARMS) would like to pay tribute to our former board member and esteemed community leader Dr Hashem Slaimankhel who lost his life in a terrorist attack while visiting Afghanistan.
Dr Slaimankhel served on the ARMS inaugural board for four years, contributing to policy, strategic planning and programming for former refugees, newcomers, and migrants settling in Auckland.
ARMS, Chief Executive, Rochana Sheward, together with ARMS Board of Trustees and staff would like to acknowledge the immense community work Dr Slaimankhel had done throughout his life, helping others and giving back to various communities in New Zealand.
“Dr Slaimankhel was an inspiring leader and a dedicated humanitarian, who not only represented the voice of former refugees on our board, but also championed a lot initiatives within various communities,” said Sheward.
“Our sincere condolences to his family.”
