Extending relief from the heat at Lower Hutt’s summer pools

Published: Thu 25 Jan 2018 04:48 PM
As a heatwave descends on much of the country, Lower Hutt’s residents will be able to stay cool for longer as the hours of Hutt City Council’s summer pools are extended to8pm most weekdays until further notice.
“It’s been at least 30 degrees in the Hutt for the last few days, and with that looking to continue on for a while yet, we thought it was worth giving people a bit longer to cool off in our fantastic summer pools,” says Lauren Hudson, Aquatic Facilities Manager.
Hutt City Council operates three outdoor summer pools, in Eastbourne, Wainuiomata and Petone. The largest, Wainuiomata Summer Pool is known to many as a ‘hidden gem’, featuring mini-golf and a water slide through native bush.
Prior bookings mean the pools aren’t able to extend their hours every day, so up to date closing times can be found online at huttcity.govt.nz/summer-pools.
