New Head for Takapuna Beach Business Association
Events and strategic management specialist, Terence Harpur is the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Takapuna
Beach Business Association (TBBA).
Terence is no newcomer to the organisation, having served as a Board Member to the TBBA since 2016. Previous positions
include project management with Regional Facilities Auckland on the Queens Wharf Integration project and Venue Manager
at Takapuna based Bruce Mason Centre. Prior to that Terence held events and operational roles overseas.
Terence says that he joins the TBBA at an “exciting and challenging time that is abundant with opportunities that will
continue Takapuna’s growth trajectory as one of Auckland’s most desirous places for shopping, dining and entertainment
as well as offering up an enviable environment to work in.”
Navigating members and the community through the “next phase” in Takapuna’s development will be an integral part of the
role, as will elevating Takapuna Beach’s already well-established reputation for great events. Terence says on top of
the tasks at hand he is looking forward to building on the great foundations that have been set by his two predecessors,
Terry Holt and Pete White and sharing the myriad of great experiences and natural assets that Takapuna and surrounds has
to offer with visitors from Auckland and afar. Part of the tourism growth strategy will be around destination marketing
as well as building on initiatives such as day visits by cruise ship passengers who are already making a mark on retail
spending during their visits.
TBBA Chair, Tony Dench says, “Terence’s passion for the North Shore and his previous experience working with multiple
stakeholders and transition management stands him in excellent stead to take Takapuna to the next level and continue to
enhance economic improvement for TBBA members through a range of strategic initiatives.”
