Hastings - Road works: Waimarama and Middle roads
Road works: Waimarama and Middle roads
The rebuilding
of two sections of the district’s roads are being carried
out over the next few weeks.
In Middle Rd, Havelock North, preparations for the reconstruction of 600m of road started last week (January 15) and is expected to take about six weeks.
The second project, in Waimarama Rd, will see 600m of road rebuilt, just south of Craggy Range Vineyard. It will start in early February and is also expected to take about six weeks.
Both projects also involve minor stormwater work and in Middle Rd a guardrail will be installed.
The age and wear of the sections of road and their surfaces are the drivers behind the reconstruction.
Hastings District Council works and services committee chairman Kevin Watkins said it was important that works such as these were addressed in a timely manner. “If we tackle them in a co-ordinated approach as their age and state require, then we get the most out of the investment we have put into the roads and ensure they do not get to a stage where they are too worn to be safe.”
Businesses and landowners in both areas have
been contacted and advised of the
works.
