Swim Heretaunga ready to re-open

Published: Tue 16 Jan 2018 12:21 PM
The swimming pools in Flaxmere are about to re-open, after being repainted, having an automatic entry door installed, and general maintenance completed.
Swim Heretaunga will re-open this Wednesday [January 17] after its annual check-up, maintenance work and refresh, said Hastings District Council facilities and programme manager Alison Banks.
“We know it can be a little frustrating having the pool closed for a few weeks in the summer, but the work needs to be completed so we choose a time when the outdoor pools in Frimley and Havelock North are open so people have other options,” said Mrs Banks.
The automatic door would make access for people in wheelchairs and with pushchairs much easier, and would help with air temperature control, she said.
The water in the pools will take a few days to get to normal heat with those temperatures expected to be achieved by the end of the week. Next week the inflatable pool toys will be back in the water, from 1pm to 3pm from Mondays to Saturdays.
During the holidays, Swim Heretaunga is open from Monday to Thursday 6am to 8pm; Friday 9am to 8pm; Saturday 7am to 3pm; Sunday 9am to 1pm.
