Update: Greenlea Rescue Helicopter
The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter has been kept busy over the Xmas / New Years period averaging a job a day since the
beginning of December. The following is a brief update on our activities since the morning of the 22nd Dec:
22 Dec: Transported a german woman from the Tongaririo Crossing to Rotorua after she fell while hiking
23 Dec: Time critical medical transfer from taupo to Rotorua Hospital
25 Dec: Time for xmas dinner before a call to the western edge of Hawkes Bay, and a man injured in a motorbike crash
flown to Hastings Hospital
26 Dec: Car Crash on SH4 near Aria. Woman flown to Waikato Hospital
26 Dec: Returning from the above flight - diverted to the K2K mountain bike track near Kinloch, where a cyclist had
dismounted in less that an ideal fashion. He was also flown to Hamilton.
27 Dec: Woman flown from the Tongariro crossing after suffering paralysis.
28 Dec: Young lad suffering a medical emergency flown from rural Taupo to Waikato Hospital
28 Dec: Young woman injured riding a horse flown from Ruatahuna to Rotorua Hospital
29 Dec: Another youngster with a medical emergency flown from Kinloch to Rotorua Hospital
30 Dec: Another medical emergency. This time a man in the western Hawkes Bay. Flown to Hastings Hospital
30 Dec: Following this job, straight back through the kaimanawa ranges to the Tongariro national park, for an injured
hiker who was taken to Taupo ED
30 Dec: Third job for the day. This time another time critical medical transfer to Waikato Hospital.
31 Dec: Medical emergency. Woman flown from the western bays to Waikato Hospital

07 Jan: Woman flown from Turangi to Rotorua Hospital following a car crash
08 Jan: Another medical transfer from Taupo Hospital to Waikato Hosp
09 Jan: Motorbike crash near Ruatahuna - Man flown to Rotorua Hospital
11 Jan: RCCNZ alert us to the first of two jobs today. First a PLB active near the Oamaru Hut. Man flown to
Taupo ED after being attacked by an (small) animal (severe reaction to a bee sting)
11 Jan: Second active PLB set off after a man fell on the Round the mountain track near Oturere. Flown to Taupo

12 Jan: Man with time critical, severe medical condition flown from the Central Plateau to Rotorua Hospital. Grounded in
Rotorua for a time due to a Passing electrical storm - See Photos
