"Man injured at Riversdale Beach, Wairarapa by stingray"
Police responded to a reports of what was thought to be a shark attack at Riversdale Beach, Wairarapa at 1.07pm today.
After reaching the scene police are now able to confirm that this was a stingray attack, not a shark.
The man is in a moderate condition with an injury to his lower leg.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called and the patient has been taken to hospital.
