Cloud Library at Manawatū District Libraries a first in New Zealand
Manawatū District Libraries has become the first library in New Zealand to offer hundreds of popular eBooks and
eAudiobooks through a new digital lending platform.
Cloud Library offers a seamless experience that allows readers to borrow eBooks from the Library, at home, or on the go
from their smart device.
The new service is offered at no cost to Library patrons, all that’s needed is an active Manawatū District Libraries
card.
Through Cloud Library any library user can discover new content, borrow favourites and save future reads straight to
their smart device. Once downloaded, anyone can read or listen wherever and whenever they choose.
Manawatū District Libraries also have a Cloud Library discovery terminal installed which will allow customers to browse
titles at the library, and by scanning their library card can get the title of each eBook or eAudiobook sent straight to
their smart device.
Readers can borrow up to five titles at one time and keep them up to three weeks through the new digital app.
Library Services manager Adie Johansen says Cloud Library is a welcome addition to the Manawatū District Library.
“We aim to provide our community with access to a wider range of content, services, resources and technology than ever
before and the introduction of Cloud Library is a significant part of that," she says.
“Manawatū District Libraries can be seen as innovators of this kind of technology to not only our community, but the
rest of New Zealand.”
Manawatū District Libraries expansive collection on Cloud Library includes eBooks and eAudiobooks with popular titles
for all ages from Harry Potter to Lee Child.
The app is available through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Kindle Fire App Store or by visiting www.yourcloudlibrary.com. Users will then need to follow the prompts and search the ‘Manawatū District Libraries’ Cloud Library site, then
simply login using their library card number and PIN.
The new service is available now. Head into the Library and scroll through their new Cloud Library discovery terminal or
speak to a friendly library representative for more information.
