7 December Special Bulletin - Kaikoura Earthquake Update
Check out the December edition of our 'Special Bulletin' for an update on SH1 reopening, to hear about what road opening
means for our communities, plus information on what to expect when travelling between Picton and Christchurch on the
alternate route and SH1.

• Open/closed schedule between Peketa and Goose Bay south of Kaikoura: Further essential rockface work in this
section is required before SH1 re-opens to the public on Friday 15 December 2017. From Monday 11 December to Thursday 14
December (inclusive) SH1 between Peketa and Goose Bay will be closed to the public. Daily local-only convoys will still
run at the regular times each day. Check out the back page of the Bulletin for further information. The Waiau/Mt Lyford Inland Road (Route 70) is open 24/7 for access to and from Kaikoura during next week’s SH1 south closures, and currently has a shorter travel
time.
