Let's Get Wellington Moving, Kāpiti

Let's Get Wellington Moving, Kāpiti

With more than 4,000 Kāpiti residents making the daily commute to Wellington, the Kāpiti Coast District Council is urging its residents to have their say on solutions for solving the city’s transport woes.

Let’s Get Wellington Moving, a joint initiative between Wellington City Council, Greater Wellington Regional Council and the New Zealand Transport Agency, is focussed on developing a transport system that supports the city’s growth while making it safer and easier to get around.

Mayor K Gurunathan says Wellington City's choked transport arteries snarl 4,000 of Kāpiti's daily commuters, as well as scores of our residents heading to Wellington Hospital and the airport.

“Four scenarios have been developed costing between $700 million to $2.3 billion,” says the Mayor. “Each scenario offers different benefits, and would impact the city and how people move around the city in different ways, so I actively encourage Kāpiti residents to make their voices heard through this consultation.”

Kāpiti residents can have their say via the Let’s Get Wellington Moving website www.getwellymoving.co.nz or by attending a drop in session at the Paraparaumu Library on Monday 11 December, 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
