Christmas Drive-through hopes to reach 26,000-mark
Each December for the past 14 years, Massey Presbyterian Church in West Auckland has run a free Christmas Drive-through, in which people can experience the Christmas story – with animals, actors, stages, and singing – from the comfort of their car.
This annual event has proven extremely popular with the West Auckland community, and organiser Dan Mills estimates that this year, they will pass the 30,000 visitor mark. “For a church event, this is a great accomplishment,” says Mills, “and it’s a real blessing that people in our community are able to experience something of what Christmas is really all about.”
Each year, the drive-through is improved, and now boasts a choir, several scenes people can drive or walk past, farm animals, and an invitation to attend the church’s special Christmas morning service.
“The feedback from those who visit it is fantastic,” says Mills. “We’re finding that interest is growing, and there is a really special atmosphere at the event.”
This year’s drive-through will run on 14, 15 and 16 December from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
