Extra care required while roads resurfaced
The NZ Transport Agency says extra care will be required around State Highway 2 Takitimu Drive late this week and next week while the roundabout at Elizabeth Street is resurfaced.
The work is expected to be carried out from 7pm until 6am Sunday (12th November), Monday and Tuesday nights, weather permitting. Elizabeth Street will be closed between Cameron Road and Takitimu Drive during this time. Detours will be in place and people should take extra care.
Takitimu Drive will remain open, but the number of westbound lanes will be reduced so people can expect some delays.
Summer resurfacing programme
Weather permitting this summer’s State Highway resurfacing programme will start on State Highways around Tauranga from Monday 13th November.
The Transport Agency says drivers are likely to encounter speed restrictions and other traffic management which may cause delays.
It says people should get in the habit of allowing extra time for their journeys.
Road users can get information on road works and detours in the region they are in, or travelling to by checking www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic, by calling 0800 444 449 or following the Transport Agency on Facebook or Twitter.
