Goff should vow to halve the $46m communications staff bill
28 October 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance is calling for leadership, and not just more Mayoral spin, in relation to the leak of a previously confidential report showing that Auckland Council is spending $45.6 million of ratepayers’ money per year to employ 234 communication staff.
Ratepayers’ Alliance Spokesperson, Jo Holmes, said:
“Phil Goff and the current Council were elected more than a year ago on platforms to cut wasteful spending. Why isn’t it happening?”
“We’re calling on Mr Goff to make a commitment, here and now, to cut the $46 million bill in half. That would show that he is serious about fighting for the region’s ratepayers, and not the Council’s 234 spin doctors.”
