Acting Chief Executive announced
The Kāpiti Coast District Council has appointed Gary Simpson as Acting Chief Executive, who will start handover with Patrick Dougherty on Monday 27 November and will hold the position until a new Chief Executive starts in the role.
Mayor Gurunathan says Gary is a good fit for Council, having previous experience in the District and good local connections.
“We’re looking forward to having Gary on board. Most recently he held the position of Chief Executive at Porirua City Council, a role which he retired from two years ago. He’s also previously worked for our Council as a Group Manager and as Deputy Chief Executive, so is familiar with our organisation and community. Having someone of Gary’s calibre acting in this position gives us the time we need to work through this process of appointing a new CE. This is one of the most important decisions a Council has to make and we want to find the best possible person to take over from Pat. We’re working with recruitment agency JacksonStone to find some great candidates who’ll fit in with our people, our community, and help us achieve our goals for the future.”
