Turoa hosts Breast Cancer Foundation Fundraiser
Skiiers and Snowboarders don bikinis for a great cause
MT RUAPEHU 15 OCTOBER 2017: Skiiers and snowboarders took to the slopes of Mt Ruapehu's Turoa ski field yesterday in bikinis - all for a great
cause.
The annual Turoa Bikini Downhill race raised more than $650 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation with guys also
joining in the fun in their shorts. More than 75 skiers and snowboarders took a run down the Downhill Slalom Course
located next to Turoa’s terrain parks, in superb spring snow conditions with blue skies and light winds.
Mt Ruapehu Marketing Manager Matt McIvor says, "It was truly amazing to see how many people got in the spirit of the
event and took a run down the course for such a good cause. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and look forward
to turning the slopes pink again next year with this event."
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ Chief Executive Evangelia Henderson, says, “We are always amazed at the creative ways in
which our community supports us. The bikini downhill ski event is a wonderful way to raise both money and awareness. We
wish all the participants well."
Donations were taken at the start of the course and throughout the day. Collection buckets and NZBCF awareness
information was distributed at customer services, rentals and food and beverage outlets.
Spot prizes were awarded to best-dressed, fastest times and the most runs, with thanks to Icebreaker and Dragon
Alliance's support with prizes.
