Conservation Week on SH2

The SH2 experience is about to get even better. This weekend marks the start of conservation week. Conservation week begins October 14th and goes until October 22nd. The Theme this year is Look after your own backyard.

Pukaha Mount Bruce and Tui Brewery have joined forces to ensure their backyard or SH2 is looking great.

To mark conservation week the Pukaha team will be helping plant trees on Tui’s Mangatainoka Reserve freedom campsite on Tuesday October 17th and The Tui team will be at Pukaha sprucing up an aviary on Friday October 20th . Pukaha’s many conservation breeding aviaries are home to breeding pairs of critical and endangered New Zealand birds. The juveniles from these breeding pairs are released into the wild through national recovery programmes for these species.

Using the #thereforourmates ,Tui launched the Plants & Pint project. Through this project, Tui have planted over 400 native trees in the Mangatainoka Reserve freedom campsite straight opposite the iconic brewery and tourism attraction. Launched on Arbour Day in June the Plants & Pints project, gives anyone staying at the reserve freedom campsite a free native plant from the brewery. They can then plant their tree at the reserve campsite to add to the planting Tui have already done. The campers then return the spade to the brewery and Tui will shout them a drink.

The Pukaha and Tui teams aren’t just making sure our backyard looks great we are ensuring a SH2 experience feels great. Both teams have worked together on creating an outstanding experience at each other’s sites. Team training sessions and joint promotions will ensure the SH2 experience is world class.
