New beer festival announced for Basin Reserve
Wellington’s iconic cricket venue, the Basin Reserve, will play host to a brand new beer festival in December of 2017.
Beers at the Basin will be held on Saturday 9 December and will feature a select line-up of craft beers, cider, wine and street food from Wellington and across the country.
Organisers, Arada Promotions, who are also behind the Wellington Wine & Food Festival, are excited to be able to use the historic venue for the event, as it sits in line with the long term plan of hosting more non-cricket events at the Basin.
“The Basin is an iconic venue, and many of us have fond memories of sitting in the sun drinking a mediocre beer watching the cricket. We’re ramping that up a bit with some of the best beer the country has to offer, great food, and of course some wine and cider options for those non-beer drinkers, along with a specialist non-alcoholic cocktail bar,” says event director Damien Hochberg.
A stage programmed with quality local and national acts will help keep the expected crowd of 5,000 people entertained during the day.
Tickets are now on sale, with VIP and group booking options available.
While a warm sunny day is hoped for, a postponement date of Sunday 10 December is in place, in the event of extreme weather.
Further details for the event can be found online at www.beersatthebasin.co.nz.
