Upper Hutt city centre pipe renewals and roading upgrade enters next stage
This week sees the completion of the pipe renewals and transition to the next stage of roading works in Upper Hutt’s
city centre.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 29 SEP 2017—The water and roading work in Upper Hutt’s Main Street and Wakefield Street is
entering its next stage. The water and wastewater pipe renewals undertaken by Wellington Water are now complete. The
next stage is the completion of the roading upgrade. This involves replacing the kerb and channel at the edge of the
road, repaving footpaths, and finally resurfacing the road in both Wakefield and Main Streets.
“We’ve taken the opportunity to schedule the roading upgrades in this area in conjunction with the water works so that
we minimise cost and avoid multiple disruptions,” says Council’s Roading Manager, Patrick Hanaray. “We’d like to thank
businesses and the community for their patience and understanding as we improve this important infrastructure in our
city centre.”
The roading improvements will extend the hours of work into the night and weekends. The work is expected to be completed
by the end of October 2017.
Any questions about this work should be directed to Council’s Call Centre on (04) 527 2169 [24 hours].
