First Vero customers return home in Edgecumbe
Vero Insurance customers who suffered severe flood damage to their properties in Edgecumbe in April have started returning to their homes this week.
Vero received over 1000 claims across New Zealand as a result of Cyclone Debbie at an expected cost of $20 million, including approximately 130 claims in Edgecumbe. Vero has paid out approximately $7 million for Edgecumbe claims to date.
“We’re delighted that some of our customers will return to their homes this week following the completion of significant work to fix the flood damage that occurred,” said Jimmy Higgins, Executive General Manager of Claims.
“Repair work is continuing for many properties, but we’re confident that all our customers will be able to return to their homes before Christmas.”
Mr Higgins acknowledged the hard work of Vero’s claims team, and many other stakeholders involved, who were on the ground immediately following the flood, and completed initial assessments of all the properties Vero insures within the first two weeks of the event.
“We are committed to being there for our customers in the moments that matter, and Edgecumbe is an example of this,” said Mr Higgins.
