New Opening: Central Bark

New Opening: Central Bark

No pet owner will dispute the old adage that dog is (wo)man’s best friend. When it comes to our fur babies, be it cats, dogs, birds, or rabbits, they really are part of the family. No one understands this better than the team at Central Bark.

Located on Parnell’s St George’s Bay Rd, Central Bark is the newest doggy daycare, pet grooming salon and pet hotel in town.

A state of the art facility, Central Bark is the first of its kind and has taken the area by storm. The entire space has been built with animals well being, safety and enjoyment in mind. This includes a climate control, bespoke dog play structures and great toys - all purposely created for dogs to play, relax, and be themselves.

Central Bark also includes a beautiful grooming salon with renowned Pet Stylist Masami Bell. A qualified groomer, Masami has 10 years experience in Japan and New Zealand, across a variety of species. Masami is extremely gentle with the animals, and does exceptional grooming work.

“We’re all about animals being happy,” explains General Manager Maggie Butler.

“Through positive reinforcement, treat training, and other techniques we ensure the pet’s welfare and happiness are at the forefront.”

Central Bark was born from Maggie’s love and experience working with dogs, in a variety of ways.

“I’ve had a lifelong involvement with animals,” she muses.

“I’ve always had dogs, and had experience showing and breeding dogs, and my Bullmastiff cross is an experienced therapy pet. Despite my corporate background, this has been a true passion project, five years in the planning.”

Alongside Maggie, there is Animal Care Manager Lauren Kerr. Lauren is a qualified Vet Nurse with experience managing a doggy daycare, working for the SPCA, training dogs and also holds a degree in Animal Welfare.

Lauren and the experienced team of Canine Care Coordinators carefully manage any new dog to ensure the induction process is smooth, and that the new dogs are comfortable and enjoying the new environment. All play groups are closely monitored by the carers’ at all times.

The Central Bark luxury Dog and Cat Hotel will be opening late September providing pets with a beautiful new place to stay in Auckland City.

Central Bark has been designed to put the welfare of the animals first, by a dedicated team of animal lovers and experts. If you are passionate about your animals, then this is the place for you.
