A 15-year-old male has been arrested and charged with arson in relation to a fire lit in the grandstand at Otago Boys’ High School at about 9.30pm on Tuesday 1 August 2017.
He has been bailed to appear in the Dunedin Youth Court on 16 August 2017.
While the damage to the stand was minor, it could have been worse if not for the quick actions from members of the public who alerted Fire, who responded immediately.
Police would like to thank local people and fire crews for their excellent response.
The male is not a current student at the school.
As the matter is now before the court, Police will not be making any further comment.
