The Spring Fling, Central Hawke’s Bay, September & October
The third annual Spring Fling is a series of over 30 standout events that once again capture the essence of springtime in Central Hawke’s Bay.
Kicking off the “Spring Fling is the opening of Taniwha Daffodils, an iconic daffodil display and ‘The Spring Hurrah’ – a fun welcome to the Spring Season at Artmosphere Gallery. This is followed by a series of events throughout September and October showcasing the history, homesteads, cycling, music, adventure, hunting, wine and culture of Central Hawke’s Bay.
Hawke’s Bay Tourism and Central Hawke’s Bay Promotions created ‘The Spring Fling’ to invite visitors into the district and showcase the best of Central Hawke’s Bay, and the popularity and scale of the event has grown steadily since.
The inaugural event in 2015 saw 13 event offerings, this grew to 19 in 2016. The 2017 program now features 32 events across the two months. The Spring Fling is a true reflection of the dedication local operators have to promoting the district as a great option for visitors.
Central Hawke’s Bay Tourism Co-ordinator Trudy Hales is really pleased with the number of events and the diversity of this year’s program. “The success of last year’s event has encouraged more of our operators and event managers to get involved and I’m thrilled to see another really diverse program, including cultural offerings from Rongomaraeroa Marae in Porangahau, kids hunting, garden & homestead tours, art and more. There really is something for everyone.”
The key Central Hawke’s Bay Spring events like Taniwha Daffodils & Central Hawke’s Bay The Festival are once again part of the calendar as well as new events such as helloworld Wearable Creations and The CHB Trolley Derby. We’ll also celebrate Waipukurau’s 150th anniversary during this years Spring Fling with four events placed across Labour Weekend - a free street parade, vintage rail car rides, Waipukurau Primary School’s birthday celerbations and a beautiful high tea at the Winlove’s private Homestead Glenora.
Tickets go on sale for The Spring Fling on Friday August 4th at 9am and a full list of events can be found atwww.thespringfling.co.nz
