Mitre 10 Wanaka wins third trade award

Mitre 10 Wanaka has once again been recognised for its excellent trade service, being named Mitre 10’s Trade Store of the Year for the third time at the national retailer’s annual awards dinner.

This makes three wins in four nominations for the store and Mitre 10 Wanaka Store Manager, Mark Watson, says he’s very proud of his team.

“Winning for a third time really confirms that we’re doing something right,” says Mr Watson. “Everyone in the trade team exemplifies a great work ethic and attention to customer service so it’s really gratifying to see it recognised at a national level.”

“Our store has also been nominated in the Mitre 10 Store of the Year category seven times, winning three times, so this year’s award is really our sixth win overall and our entire team should be proud of our achievements.”

The locally owned and operated business was chosen by judges for its exceptional service to trade customers, after a judging panel assessed Mitre 10’s nationwide store network on a range of different criteria.

Mitre 10 Wanaka Owner, Martin Dippie, says that the trade business will continue to grow as the area’s construction sector continues to flourish and develop.

“Reactions to our award wins have always been very positive, with some good natured ribbing from tradies included, and it demonstrates that the investment we’ve put into our trade offering has really paid off.”

Mitre 10 CEO Neil Cowie congratulated Mitre 10 Wanaka on their win saying that the store “is a hard-working business that successfully meets the needs of trade customers while demonstrating the Co-op’s principles.”

“It was a very competitive category as Mitre 10 nationally has been focused on further developing our trade offering throughout the country, but Mitre 10 Wanaka stood out from the rest.”

The Mitre 10 New Zealand Awards, held last week at the SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland, acknowledge the efforts of team members across the country and seek to reflect the company’s continuing focus on customer experience.
