Country Road returns to CBD in The Crossing
After a six and a half year absence, Country Road will soon reopen in the central city at the $140 million The Crossing
retail and hospitality development.
The new South Island flagship store will front directly onto Cashel Street. Prior to the earthquakes, Country Road was
located in the Guthrey Centre.
Country Road will be joined by sister fashion brands Trenery and Witchery, which will also front directly onto Cashel
Street giving the brands a powerful united presence. These brands, together with MIMCO and Politix form the
Australia-headquartered Country Road Group.
Owner of The Crossing, Philip Carter said: “I am particularly pleased to be bringing Country Road back to the central
city.”
“This is a much loved brand with a long connection with the central city. It’s going to be the biggest Country Road in
the South Island, featuring the full range of homeware, men’s, women’s and children’s wear.”
The Crossing will also become home to the first Trenery store in the South Island, while Witchery will open its first
ever full retail store in central Christchurch, having previously operated a smaller ‘concession’ shop within
Ballantynes.

Carter said: “An exceptional mix of tenants are joining our other international retailers. This is a real confidence
boost to the redevelopment of our central city.”
He also confirmed that key international fashion retailers will be open progressively at The Crossing from early
September.
