Water levels
Heathcote River water levels are continuing to drop and the upper storage basins are slowly emptying. This is forecast
to continue over the coming days. However, further rain is forecast from this Thursday and may cause isolated flooding
in some areas, particularly where grounds are already saturated.
We are continuing to closely monitor Heathcote River water levels and rainfall forecasts.
Road closures
Most flood-affected roads in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula have re-opened, however a few still remain closed.

Animals in flood-affected areas
Owners living in or near flood-affected properties need to be aware of their pets and where they are roaming.
Christchurch City Council's Animal Management Team advises that pets injured by flood debris will become vulnerable to
infection from sewage. They could also be vulnerable to gastric issues, especially if animals eat or drink infected
materials or liquids.
Owners should be aware of the risk of cross-contamination. Pets playing in flood debris can bring harmful material
inside the home and people can become infected. People must always wash their hands after contact with pets and avoid
direct contact to their face from pets.
Residents concerned about their animals should contact a veterinarian.
