Update re lower Outram evacuations – 2.30am
Civil Defence is encouraging lower Outram residents who are at the halls to take up the offer to leave the township via supplied transport. An army unimog is available to take people from lower Outram to the Mosgiel information centre at the Fire Station Theatre, 3 Cargill Street. From the centre, residents can arrange to stay with family or friends, or Civil Defence can organise accommodation.
Residents are being asked to take warm clothes, bedding, pets etc with them.
