Have your say on proposed Northboro Reserve land exchange
North Shore residents living near Northboro Reserve, Belmont, are invited to have their say on a proposal to exchange
parts of the Northboro Reserve with private land in the Hillary Crescent Special Housing Area (SHA).
The exchange would improve public access to Northboro Reserve and provide increased recreational opportunities,
including a proposed new park, within the SHA.
Overall, the amount of reserve land in the area would be increased from 25,320m² to 26,174m².
It would also enable the most efficient use of the SHA land where Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa Limited propose building
about 300 new dwellings over a five year period.
Devonport-Takapuna Local Board chair Grant Gillon said that in February 2017 the local board agreed that if the reserve
exchange was approved the board would receive concept designs for the newly created reserves for approval.
“The Local Board welcomes working in partnership with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa Limited to ensure the best outcomes
for the community,” he added.
“In this case, the proposed park area will add to the amenity of the Hillary neighbourhood and it’s important the
community has a say on this land exchange process.”
The submission period will run from 28 July to 28 August. Feedback will be carefully considered and used to inform the
decision as to whether to proceed with the proposed land exchange.
The process is conducted under the Reserves Act 1977.
