Ruapehu weather event update #2 – 12:45pm
Snow is continuing to fall.
Central Plateau roads remain closed.
Transit advise SH1, SH46, SH47, SH49 and SH4 on the Central Plateau are closed due to snow.
Local road conditions are treacherous.
Local travel is not advised unless absolutely necessary.
Power is currently off in Ohakune and Raetihi.
Council’s Ohakune office remains open with a skeleton staff to assist with information enquires.
Due to the power outage the Raetihi wastewater pumping stations is filling up which may result in an overflow to local waterways. Please stay clear of these.
