A Taste of Hawke’s Bay in Wellington
Hawke’s Bay is taking a road trip to Wellington!
On Wednesday 28 June, Hawke’s Bay Tourism along with over 20 local tourism and hospitality operators will be heading to Wellington to provide a taste of Hawke’s Bay to Lion’s fans and Wellington locals.
Located in a giant Pop-Up Dome on the Wellington Waterfront, Taste Hawke’s Bay will sit alongside the official Lion’s Fan Zone which is expected to be teeming with thousands of Lions fans in advance of the 2nd All Blacks vs. British and Irish Lions Test Match.
Local Hawke’s Bay businesses including wineries, breweries, coffee and food vendors, tour operators, and attractions will be on display, as will local favourite the Pipi Pizza truck. Visitors will be treated to wine and food tastings, as well as live music and some great deals to be had on the day as well as back in Hawke’s Bay.
With over 20,000 Lion’s fans expected to be heading north for the 3rd test, Hawke’s Bay Tourism will be encouraging Lions fans to head north via the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail (State Highway 2) through the Wairarapa and then on to Hawke’s Bay. Wellington is also a key domestic tourism market for Hawke’s Bay so showcasing Hawke’s Bay to locals is also an important objective for this event.
Hawke’s Bay Tourism General Manager, Annie Dundas, said this was a fantastic opportunity for visitors to come and get a taster of Hawke’s Bay while out enjoying the atmosphere of the Lions Fanzone. “There is plenty going on in Hawke’s Bay and some fantastic deals on offer for Lions visitors. We have seen Lions visitors already in Hawke’s Bay, but we believe there will be a lot more to come after the 2nd Test and while traveling to the 3rd Test in Auckland.
