Eden Park gears up for the big match
The two teams aren’t the only ones making final tweaks to their approach ahead of this weekend’s much anticipated test
match, with Eden Park preparing to roll out a revamped food and beverage offer.
Eden Park Trust Chief Executive Guy Ngata says the iconic stadium is delighted to be hosting the opening test match of
the DHL New Zealand Lions Series 2017.
He says the changes to the food and drink offer at the park are designed to improve the live match experience for fans.
“Eden Park Catering has added some new options and divided the food and beverage offer into four different types of
outlets, which are distributed around the stadium concourse,” Ngata says. “We believe this will increase the speed of
service at each.”
The four outlets are:
• Loyal Brew – local and international lagers and ales as well as new craft beer selections and carefully selected New
Zealand wines
• Eden Market – the healthy choice, featuring freshly prepared salad boxes, sandwiches, wraps and artisan cabinet
selections
• Salt & Pepper – Locally sourced ingredients in stadium favourites such as fish and chips, jumbo hot dogs, prawn twisters, hot
chips, a seafood basket and a range of gourmet pies
• The Ground Grill – Choose from six of the best burgers, made from locally sourced ingredients and assembled on sight,
and add a side of potato or kumara chips.
Meanwhile, on the outer oval, Eden Park is preparing for its biggest hospitality operation since Rugby World Cup 2011.
“Working with All Blacks Hospitality, 7000 square metres of marquees are being installed and we will have 500 staff
catering for 5,000 guests on Saturday night,” Ngata says.
He says fans will get the best from their live Eden Park experience if they make a point of getting to the stadium early
and avoid traffic and parking hassles by using public transport.
“The best advice I can give any fan is get here early and make sure you don’t miss any action.
“Fans will have plenty of time to plan their journey and arrive early given it is aSaturday. Give yourself plenty of
time to access public transport and proceed through entry protocols.”
The gates at Eden Park open from 4.30 pm on Saturday and travel on trains and special event buses is included with all
match tickets.
This covers travel from four hours before the match on trains and special event bus services from Northern Busway
stations, Takapuna, Midtown, Newmarket, Mt Eden, Pakuranga, Botany and Manukau.
