Red zone panel discussion this Thursday
Red zone panel discussion this Thursday 22 June
Christchurch Conversations
National and international thought leaders will stimulate public debate about the red zone’s future in a free public talk this Thursday.
The panel will share what they think the greatest contribution the 600 hectares of land connecting the city to the sea along the Ōtākaro Avon River could make to Christchurch and to New Zealand.
Chaired by Jacky Bowring, Professor of Landscape Architecture at Lincoln University, the panellists are:
• Philippa Howden-Chapman, Professor of public health at the University of Otago, Wellington
• Joseph Hullen, Senior Whakapapa Registration Advisor at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu
• Rod Oram, International business journalist and household name.
• Marjan van den Belt, Ecological Economist and Assistant Vice Chancellor (Sustainability) at Victoria University
The panel are all engaging speakers and there is a lot of public interest in the red zone’s future so we’re sure it will be a stimulating evening.
The event runs from 6:00-7:30pm at the Piano, 156 Armagh Street, in Christchurch on Thursday 22 June.
As this is a free event, no reservations are required. We’re happy to set aside seats for media, please RSVP and let us know your requirements by 5pm Wednesday 21 June.
There will be an opportunity to interview the presenters immediately after the event, between 2:00-5:00pm on Thursday afternoon, or at other times by arrangement.
