Queens Wharf Delivers Flavour And Photos for Autumn Reopening

A cultural and foodie Auckland destination, Queens Wharf is re-opening this weekend, Saturday 20 May, with the pop-up container village and the launch of the collaborative Connections Photography Exhibition, following an unforgettable World Master Games.

Closed to host thousands of athletes from around the world as the entertainment and social hub of the World Masters Games, the return to ‘business as usual’ will see the return of the Pop up container village and the launch of the Connections Photography Exhibition, two of Queens Wharf most loved attractions, further cementing the destination as the cultural and foodie heart of the downtown area.

To celebrate the reopening of the pop-up village, this Friday 19th May, the first 100 people down to Queens Wharf Village from midday, will receive a free meal voucher up to the value of $10 - redeemable at any vendor.

The reopening is the perfect chance to sit back, relax and enjoy delicious dishes from the Queens Wharf Village, while listening to the onsite DJ and taking in some of the best scenery in town. Offering up culinary delights from Kapai, St Pierre’s Sushi, Cinta Malaysian, The White Lady, Wolf Coffee and treats from Grab 'More, we can't think of a better inner city lunch spot!
The village is an innovative place-making response during a period of disruption with the redevelopment of the Downtown Shopping Centre and the City Rail Link construction works.

This exciting time for the Queens Wharf precinct is further extended by the collaborative Connections Project, on show at Auckland’s Waterfront for the third year running.

The Connections project is a photographic challenge in which seven keen photographers are given the opportunity to work with top international photographer Tom Ang. The Exhibition will open on the Queens Wharf fence line on the southern apron of the wharf on Saturday 20 May with an onsite DJ from 1-4pm adding to the buzzing atmosphere.

The collaborative exhibition has been created from scratch in just five weeks. The seven photographers have worked together to connect with the concept, connect with each other, and engage with the city.
This year the theme for the Connections project is ‘reflections’ and each photographer has been working over the last month to uncover insights into this theme.

The seven photographers congregated to decide on the images that will be on display as part of the Connections Photography Exhibition on the Queens Wharf fence. This year, they worked brilliantly together to shoot, curate and create an elegiac reflection of the city they love.

Both the reopening of the Queens Wharf Village and the launch of the Connections Photography Exhibition are the perfect attractions to augment your Autumn leisure time, to immerse yourself with some of the best food and photography Auckland has to offer.
