Mayor opens Auckland Conversations event on homelessness tonight

Today Social Housing Minister Amy Adams and Auckland Mayor Phil Goff launched Housing First Auckland, which aims to house 472 chronically homeless Aucklanders and provide services to address the causes of their homelessness.

This evening the Mayor will open the Auckland Conversations event, “Homelessness in Auckland”. The keynote speaker is Dr Sam Tsemberis, the founder of Pathways to Housing in New York, and designer of the consumer-driven evidence based Housing First model.

Homelessness in Auckland will be discussed on stage by the following panelists:

Dr Sam Tsemberis – founder, Pathways To Housing

Viv Beck - Chief Executive, Heart of the City

Rau Hoskins - Chairperson, Te Matapihi

Moira Lawler - Chief Executive, Lifewise

Graham Bodman - General Manager; Arts, Community and Events, Auckland Council

5.30pm - Conversation starts

Auckland Council is proud to be working with Heart of the City and partnering with central government and the Auckland Housing First Collective to bring Housing First to Auckland in 2017.
