Marlborough recovery update: Kaikoura earthquake
Spring Creek
stopbank repairs
Repairs to an
earthquake-damaged stopbank at Spring Creek have been
completed, and crews are midway through repairing damaged
stopbanks in Grovetown. A flood watch remains in place for
the Spring Creek and Grovetown communities until further
notice.
Septic tank
inspections
Council-subsidised inspections of
earthquake-damaged septic tanks along the Flaxbourne and
Ward water schemes have been completed. Property owners with
concerns about earthquake damage to their septic tanks
outside the water scheme areas are advised to contact their
insurance companies to arrange inspections and repairs.
Slip dams
Dams caused by landslides
in the Ure Valley and the Medway during the Kaikoura
Earthquake will be reinspected for their stability and
future risk of dam breach in March. The dams had been at
risk of bursting during recent heavy rainfall.
