Jazz, blues and rock at Porirua’s free Summer Concert Series
Bring a picnic and your dancing shoes to Porirua’s Aotea Lagoon for the free Summer Concert Series next weekend from 17 to 19 February.
Friday will be a night of jazz and blues with Aotea College’s talented jazz band playing from 5.30pm to 7pm, followed by the Mana Blues band playing from 7pm to 8.30pm.
On Saturday, back by popular demand, is Irish-band Shenanigans playing from 6pm to 8pm.
And on Sunday, crowd favourite, piano-playing singer and entertainer Shaun Preston will be performing from 6pm to 8pm.
“We’ve moved these popular annual concerts from January to February to make the most of the more settled weather, people are back from holidays and we still have the lovely long summer evenings,” says Mayor Mike Tana.
“We’ve got a great mix of music and talented performers who will serve up a fabulous evening’s entertainment, so bring the family, a picnic and something to sit on. I invite you all to come and dance with me.”
The concerts are being held on Aotea Lagoon’s No. 1 Lawn, off Papakowhai Rd. Food will be available to purchase from food trucks on site.
