Things get a little wild after hours with Zoo Twilights

Ever wondered what happens at Wellington Zoo as the sun goes down?

Throughout February Wellington Zoo is open until 8pm every Wednesday for Zoo Twilights giving everyone an opportunity to experience Wellington Zoo at dusk.

While some animals settle down to sleep, for some the day will just be beginning.

According to Wellington Zoo’s General Manager Community Engagement Amy Hughes, “The Zoo is a magical place in the evening. Visitors will have a great time – they might hear different animals call or engage with the animals that are less active during the day.”

Evening visitors will be able to enjoy the full Zoo experience – with animal talks as well as evening Close Encounters available each Wednesday.

“This year, visitors will be able to explore and get up close to our cheeky Kea in our new walk-through Kea experience which is the final chapter in Meet the Locals He Tuku Aroha,” says Amy.

The Zoo Shop and Mojo Zoo café will also remain open. Zoo Twilights starts on Wednesday 1 February and continue on Wednesday 8, 15 and 22 February.

During Zoo Twilights, standard entry prices apply.
