Wellington City Council does the fair thing
Great news today from the Wellington City Council; they are making progress towards paying the Living Wage to City Gallery security staff, by ensuring better pay rates no matter when in the day people are working.
CTU Secretary Sam Huggard supports the Councils decision. “It’s wonderful that our capital city is showing great leadership and continuing to extend the living wage to more and more working people.”
“We look forward to the Wellington City Council paying all employees the Living Wage – a move they have signalled they are committed to achieving. All other Councils in New Zealand need to plan for when they also will pay all those that work for them a living wage,” Huggard said.
