Youthline Wellington needs your help

Youthline Wellington has been running for 45 years, and we desperately need your help.
Recent local government funding cuts mean we may be forced to reduce – or possibly even terminate - our services, potentially putting thousands of vulnerable young people at risk.
In 2015, Youthline Wellington’s Helpline counsellors answered over 920 calls, and responded to almost 6,000 text messages from young people, as well as youth workers reaching out to almost 1,400 young people through education in the community and school visits.
Simply put, our services are absolutely vital to support young people in need.
With youth depression and anxiety disorders on the rise it is vital that young people have the help they need. An anonymous, free helpline is essential for supporting and informing young people about a range of issues they may face; from puberty and bullying, to more serious issues such as depression and suicide. The demand for our service indicates we are trusted by young people
Youthline Wellington has two paid staff and over 100 volunteers. The continuity and structural organisation required to coordinate our services effectively and professionally would not be possible on a volunteer only basis. The Youthline Manager and Coordinator’s salaries are vital for ensuring professional and accountable service delivery.
In order for us to continue to provide our integral community and youth service we require financial support in the way of donations, grants and partnerships. Currently, we are minimally funded by the Government and much of our other funding comes from generous individuals or businesses.
This year is our 45th year of operation. We are continuing to grow, change and adapt as an organisation in order to provide the best services we can to our young people, our community and our membership base.
Our helpline is free for young people and our wider community and will always be - but we need your help more than ever. If you are in a position to support our work, please contact us to receive our fundraising pack, enquire about our communication workshops, volunteer your resources, donate merchandise or offer a donation.
