Council reminds people to get permits, payments or requests for information sorted before the Christmas break.

Our customer service office at Gladstone Rd and all Council departments will close from 5pm, and the Te Puia Springs Service centre will close from 4.30pm, Wednesday 21 December for the Christmas break.

Offices reopen again 9am Wednesday 4 January 2017.

Customer services manager Angela Stuart says people planning on having a Hāngi and or light open Fires need to apply for a permit by 15 December.

“Or if you’re going camping this summer at any of our summer campgrounds, you’ll need to apply or pick up your permit or apply in time before we close.” People can also pick up a permit throughout the holidays from the Gisborne i-site, Easts Outdoor Work and Leisure, the Okitu Store and Uawa Foodmart.

“Jet Ski owners also need to register with us and display a unique number to use any Jet Ski areas around the district.”

Kerbside rubbish and recycling collection will continue as normal on public holidays.

During the Christmas closedown anyone with an urgent request outside business hours can call 867 2049 or 0800 653 800.

“Our after-hours provider will help you and we’ll action noise control, animal control and emergencies.”

Non-urgent requests will be handled during normal business hours when we reopen.

Council holiday information, applications and office hours, including the Library and Olympic Pool holiday information, are available on our website.
