Councils join forces for consistency in building consents
Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council are among 20 councils around New Zealand about to start using the GoShift initiative to bring consistency to the building consent process.
From 5 December, Nelson City and Tasman District Councils will both be using GoShift application forms and guidance to deliver a consistent and timely consenting experience with the aim of simpler, faster building consents processes.
This ensures consistency between councils that recognises many high users of the building consent process work in both Nelson and Tasman districts.
Having the new forms and processes available online is the first stage of this initiative. The next stage of GoShift will be the introduction of standardised processing checklists and approval processes, due to be introduced early next year.
Further developments are likely to include a dedicated online portal to enable an easier application process and allow for data standardisation and sharing of expertise and resources.
GoShift forms will be available from 5 December at nelson.govt.nzand tasman.govt.nz.
