Kaikoura: landline, data, EFTPOS outage for repairs 21.11.16

This is an urgent message authorised by Murray Sinclair, Kaikoura Civil Defence Controller:
12.30pm: Chorus has advised use that the fibre-optic cable servicing Kaikoura will be taken out of service for urgent maintenance and repairs to earthquake damage this afternoon. The outage will be for an estimated 4-5 hours; exact time unknown.
This means no landlines, no data and no EFTPOS during the outage. The 111 system will still be operating. Cellphones should still work normally.
