Whale Watch Kaikoura Acknowledge the Immense Support to the Region from Across the Country
Thursday November 17, 2016.
Whale Watch Kaikoura today sends its sincere thanks to all those who have offered their support and understanding following this week's massive quake.
Whale Watch Kaikoura General Manager Kauahi Ngapora said he and his team were overwhelmed by the support they have received and by the resilience of those affected by the disaster, which has struck the community and the country.
“My thanks and tautoko go to all those who have been affected, and to those who have done what they can to help our community and others that have been severely impacted by this disaster.
“Our priority since the quake has been our whanau, staff, visitors and community and to do what we can to support them at this time.”
Mr Ngapora said whanau and the health and well-being of those affected has been and must be the focus in the initial stage.
“Kaikoura is a town of incredible resilience and character and we will come back from this.”
Mr Ngapora said operations for the award winning tourism business will be reviewed in the coming weeks, and with roads to the town blocked, key infrastructure still being addressed and water depth issues within our marina it was too early to say when the Whale Watch Kaikoura team would be back on the water.
“In the meantime my team and I will continue to do what we can to support and help get our community and our whanau and friends back on their feet.”
