Ongoing St John Response to Earthquake (7am, 15 Nov)
St John continues to operate a National Crisis
Coordination Centre this morning and work with Civil
Defence, Government, and emergency and health agencies as
aftershocks continue.
There have been no 111 calls for ambulance incidents in the Kaikoura area since late last night. St John’s workload in other parts of New Zealand was at normal levels overnight, despite adverse weather, particularly on the West Coast and in Taranaki.
Paramedics and other ambulance officers will be helicoptered into Kaikoura at lunchtime today to relieve current crews and deliver supplies.
Ground and air resources are in place to support the affected communities over the coming days, including the ability to moving any patients out of Kaikoura as needed. St John has two fully crewed ambulances operating in Kaikoura plus constant air ambulance cover.
St John advises people to have their phones, medicines and emergency kits with them and to keep in contact with family and friends. Please refer to Civil Defence website http://www.civildefence.govt.nz/ and Civil Defence in your region for local instructions.
