Otago CDEM Group Media Advisory #4 - final
Media Advisory #4
6:45
This will be the
final release from Otago CDEM unless the situation
changes.
Otago Civil Defence has moved to
a monitoring status in response to the beach and marine
threat to the region following this morning’s earthquakes
and tsunami warning. Civil defence staff will remain onsite
in the Dunedin civil defence head quarters to monitor the
situation as aftershocks are ongoing.
The land-based threat to the eastern coasts of Otago has passed but a beach and marine threat remains.
Otago Group Controller Chris Hawker says people can return to their homes but need to stay off beaches and shorelines. Unusual currents and wave patterns are likely to continue.
We have not been advised of any disruptions to schools or public transport in the region. However, if in doubt check with your local school.
Please listen to the radio for further updates, follow your local civil defence updates on social media and check the Otago CDEM Group website: http://www.otagocdem.govt.nz/
