Fast Police response sees arrest following robbery

A speedy response from Wellington Police saw a man arrested in relation to an aggravated robbery in Porirua within 20 minutes of the incident being reported.

At 9:18am this morning Police received a report that North City Tenpin on Kenepuru Drive had been robbed by a man with a firearm.

The offender forced a staff member to open a safe and has taken a large amount of cash.

He then took the victim’s cell phone and car keys and fled the scene using their vehicle.

At 9:36am Police located and stopped the vehicle on SH58 near Moonshine Road.

The firearm and stolen items were recovered.

A single male occupant was taken into custody and is currently being interviewed by Police.
