Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter Round-up 29 Oct - 4 Nov

The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter flew 12 missions during the period as follows:
Sat 29 An afternoon mission to Levin for a woman in her 40’s with a medical emergency. She was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Wellington Hospital for specialist treatment. On the return journey the helicopter landed in Shannon for an elderly man who had a medical emergency which required the on board St John’s Intensive Care Paramedic. He was transported to Palmerston North Hospital. Later that evening the helicopter was sent to Taihape for a woman in her 20’s with abdominal injuries. She was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital.
Sun 30 A morning mission to Levin for a woman in her 30’s who was having difficulties with her pregnancy and required urgent transportation to Palmerston North Hospital. Following that the helicopter was tasked to Akitio where a 6 week old baby needed medical treatment and transfer to the Palmerston North Hospital. Later that afternoon the helicopter was dispatched to Otaki where a woman in her 20’s was located with an abdominal injury which required urgent medical attention at Wellington Hospital.
Mon 31 An evening mission to Taihape for a 9 year old boy with a medical emergency. He was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Whanganui hospital.
Wed 02 A morning mission to Ngamahanga for a man in his 70’s with a medical emergency. He was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Hastings Hospital. Later in the evening the helicopter was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident on State Highway 1 just South of Levin.The driver of the car, a woman in her 60’s, was extracted from the car by the Levin Fire brigade and was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North.
Thu 03 A morning mission Raetihi for a man in his 30’s injured by a falling tree. He was stabilised on scene by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for specialist treatment.
Fri 04 An afternoon mission to Levin for a woman with a medical emergency. She was airlifted to Palmerston. Later that evening the helicopter was sent to an 8 year old boy with a medical emergency in Taihape. Due to the weather he was transported by road and met the helicopter in Mangaweka. He was then airlifted, along with his Mum, to Palmerston North hospital.
