ASB Auckland Marathon - Race by Numbers
New Zealand’s premier road race is made up of five events: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, Heart
Foundation 5km Challenge and Kids’ Marathon, all set to start on Sunday, October 30.
The ASB Auckland Marathon, which dates back to 1923, is New Zealand’s biggest road race and has been a special part of
this city’s social fibre for many years, involving Kiwis from around the country and incorporating iconic parts of the
city from the starting gun at Devonport, to the Auckland Harbour Bridge, Auckland waterfront, and Victoria Park to
finish.
Not only is it iconic on the New Zealand running calendar as the only running event that traverses the Auckland Harbour
Bridge, the ASB Auckland Marathon is fast gaining an international reputation, with entries from 17 international elite
runners this year.

ASB Auckland Marathon highlights:
Check out the ASB Auckland Marathon Expo taking place on Friday and Saturday before the event on Sunday. New to the expo
this year, the ASB strapping station will be available for runners looking to take extra care of their ankles and/or
knees during the race.

On course activity:
Blitz the Bridge There will be timing mats at the bottom and the top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. The fastest female
and male to run from the bottom to the top of the bridge within the following seven 30 minute blocks will both win a
prize pack, including a $300 Asics voucher. With 14 prize packs up for grabs, every runner who crosses the bridge
between half hour slots from 6.50 to 10.20am has the chance to win
ASB Japanese drummers will be located before the Auckland Harbour Bridge and again on Tamaki Drive (opposite Kelly
Tarltons) to encourage runners and give that extra push of adrenalin as they approach the bridge
ends
